There are a number of key advantages:
- Differentiate by demonstrating that your business meets the requirements of ISO 19650-2:2018.
- Reduce the required to carry out BIM capability assessments for ISO 19650-2:2018 aligned projects, increasing bidding opportunities.
- Confirm that information management processes, procedures and templates are compliant with ISO 19650-2:2018.
- Ensure quality is maintained through annual audits.
- The certification is UKAS Accredited, reassuring you that our process has been rigorously assessed and is subject to annual audit.

The requirements for certification are taken from ISO 19650-2:2018 and its normative reference ISO 19650-1:2018.
There are three scopes of certification:
- Appointing Party
- Lead Appointed Party
- Appointed Party (Task Team)You will need to establish which of these, or any combination, is appropriate for your business. Each of these scopes of certification has different requirements.
We can help you with this and provide you with a clear indication of the requirements for each scope.
How long is certification valid for?
Certificates are valid for 3 years from the date of issue, subject to the completion of annual audits. The certificate will be reissued after 3 years and the successful completion of an annual audit.
What if we do not have ISO 19650 projects available to be audited?
We also offer a BIM Prepared route to certification, which involves the Stage 1 desktop assessment. This can be used as a stepping stone towards UKAS accredited certification. BIM Prepared certification can be held for 2 years and you can apply for UKAS accredited certification within these two years once you have suitable projects available. The UKAS accredited certification scheme requires that we sample projects for compliance with ISO 19650-2:2018.
How long does it take to achieve certification?
This will depend on your readiness and the scope of certification. Typical timeframes can vary between 3-12 months.
Does Information Management Certification for Businesses relate to Information Management Certification for Individuals?
Information Management Certification for Individuals and the prerequisite BRE Academy BIM training courses will complement the business certification process.
