Background
With expert teams based in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, Milan, Austin, Seattle, and Tokyo, Longevity Partners identified the increasing importance of sustainability expertise in the real estate sector. To keep pace with growing client demands for green building certifications, they enrolled 22 employees—comprising analysts and consultants—in the BREEAM In-Use training program.
BREEAM is the world’s leading science-based suite of validation and certification systems for a sustainable built environment. Millions of buildings across the world are registered to work towards BREEAM’s holistic approach to achieve ESG, health, and net zero goals.
Combining leading expertise with practical insights, the training prepared Longevity Partners’ teams to deliver both commercial and residential BREEAM In-Use certifications, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to assess projects internationally.
Challenges and solutions
Seizing opportunities in the growing green buildings market
As green building certifications become crucial in the real estate and infrastructure sectors, Longevity Partners identified the need to expand their internal capacity and decided to roll out a large-scale BREEAM In-use training program.
The BREEAM In-use standard provides a science-based framework that helps improve the performance of existing buildings, supporting benchmarking, validation and continuous improvements. Underpinned by credible science, this standard helps to improve the performance of buildings that are already in use, with support for benchmarking, assurance, and validation of operational asset data. It also enables property investors, owners, managers and occupiers to make sustainable improvements to their assets
The BREEAM In-use standard benefits properties by driving sales and rental values, reducing operational costs, as well as supporting disclosure and reporting requirements.
To stay competitive and meet client demand, Longevity Partners saw the need to upskill their teams. The BREEAM In-use training enabled Longevity Partners to improve their service offering, and opened opportunities in the rapidly expanding green buildings market.
Tracking progress of a large-scale online training program
The BREEAM In-Use training was delivered online, enabling Longevity Partners’ team to complete it flexibly at their own pace and convenience.
To ensure smooth delivery, they used BRE Academy’s enterprise training dashboard to monitor learning progress. This centralised tool provided valuable insights into completion rates, allowing for effective oversight and ensuring the team remained on track.
Benefits of BREEAM In-use assessor training
The BREEAM In-Use course is designed for built environment professionals with experience in the management and operation of commercial buildings. It equips learners with the skills to assess operational assets and apply the technical content of the BREEAM In-Use International scheme.
All 22 Longevity Partners employees successfully completed the course, earning their licenses as BREEAM assessors. This expanded their expertise in sustainability and enabled them to offer additional services to clients seeking to certify their assets under BREEAM’s rigorous standards.
