They enrolled 30 employees from 18 different countries to complete BREEAM introductory training to support their commitment to sustainability and address the growing significance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) in the market.

Background
Daikin Europe N.V. is involved in 200 BREEAM certifications every year. As the market for green buildings continues to grow, Daikin Europe N.V. recently turned to BRE Academy to upskill their workforce in BREEAM.
BREEAM is the world’s leading science-based suite of validation and certification systems for a sustainable built environment. Millions of buildings across the world are registered to work towards BREEAM’s holistic approach to achieve ESG, health, and net zero goals.
After several employees completed BREEAM Advisory Professional (Design and Site) training and with multiple specialists dedicated to BREEAM schemes in Spain and the Netherlands, Daikin sought to launch a training program for their consulting sales engineers and product development teams to expand their knowledge of sustainable construction practices. As a result, a total of 30 employees from 18 countries, including France, Poland, Belgium, and Germany, participated in an extensive BREEAM introductory training program.
With no pre-requirements, the training programme provided a comprehensive introduction to BREEAM, equipping learners with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully support its application.
Francesco Labanti, Consulting Sales Engineer for Daikin Spain, said that the training “not only allowed me to learn about the basic concepts of the BREEAM certification but it also opened my mind to more sustainable construction practices”.

As a family of technical holistic sustainability standards, BREEAM supports clients in achieving their ESG objectives by providing a framework that enables the measurement and verification of performance through third-party certification.

Daikin collaborates extensively with various stakeholders in the construction industry — including owners, occupants, developers, engineers, and installers — to uphold the highest standards in technology implementation. Their success stems largely from their practical, problem-solving approach, which propels them toward a more sustainable future for the built environment.
It’s easier for me to interact with and support the various BREEAM stakeholders involved in a project, to promote DAIKIN’s strengths from the design stage through to execution.

Training an international workforce with diverse roles and responsibilities
With operations spanning EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), Daikin faced a logistical challenge in launching a streamlined training program to address sustainability skill gaps and further integrate ESG principles into their organisation.
Daikin opted for a fully online BREEAM training programme, which enabled their employees to easily access course materials. The online format provided both the flexibility and accessibility needed to accommodate the diverse schedules and locations of Daikin’s workforce.
