What is your role at BRE Academy, and how do you support our learners or clients?
As Head of BRE Academy, I want to understand what the future needs are of our customers – whether that’s new courses, or how we can improve our services. Setting the strategy of the Academy to ensure that we reflect the solutions to built environment challenges and enable growth to support the skills and roles of our existing and future customers.
Which areas of training or services do you most commonly support?
My primary focus is the Academy training and Operation teams, who support the delivery of our training courses and our customers. Through collaborating with wider internal teams, we support each other to focus on enabling our customers to have access to training courses in a range of subjects across sustainability, BREEAM, BIM and Information Management and Fire and Safety, ensuring that the knowledge and research of BRE contributes to the development of those working within the built environment.
What do you think makes BRE Academy training different?
BRE Academy courses are based on scientific rigour and the knowledge of experts within their fields. We take this knowledge and share valuable content, to ensure meaningful learning outcomes, in a way that makes the science accessible for all. Our contribution is to share knowledge that helps those working within industry to deliver a safe and more sustainable built environment.
What advice would you give to organisations or individuals looking to upskill?
We have a range of learning pathways, across a wide portfolio of subjects. Upskilling or continued professional development is key to building a resilient workforce. We’re here to help. The team enjoy engaging and helping our customers to find the right course, in the right format – and it’s a great opportunity for us to learn more about what our customers want and explore potential new training courses and pathways.
Where is your favourite place any why?
I love to be with my family and friends – whether that’s at home, exploring a town or city, or beach – or taking scenic walks through the countryside. I also enjoy live music, so being part of an audience and singing along makes me happy.
What do you love about your role at BRE Academy?
The people. Colleagues, customers, industry peers – the passion that we share and the ambition to have an impact to protect people and the environment for the future. I love that we have that opportunity, and responsibility, to make a difference together.
