About Joe: With over 30 years of experience in the fire sector, Joe has led and delivered across all areas of operations, technical fire safety, and risk assessment.

Joe has worked in the UK and overseas, providing expert fire engineering, safety leadership, and specialist guidance in complex and high-risk environments.

What is your role at BRE Academy, and how do you support our learners or clients?

I deliver training on the BRE/ ABBE level 4 national diploma in fire risk assessment.

I am also an internal quality auditor for the BRE Academy.

Which areas of training or services do you most commonly support?

I deliver training on the following topics:

  • Legislation
  • Fire dynamics
  • Passive Fire Protection
  • Fire Risk Assessment
  • BS9999 and BS 7974

What do you think makes BRE Academy training different?

Many trainers not only hold academic qualifications in fire engineering, but have also spent considerable time undertaking projects within the construction industry.

Where is your favourite place any why?

Co Mayo and Co Roscommon in Ireland. My grandparents and family lived in Ireland and I have great memories visiting Co Mayo and Co Roscommon and travelling across Ireland on holiday.

What do you love about your role at BRE Academy?

I have always enjoyed delivering training and I strongly believe that BRE has a role in developing and delivering fire safety training to the next generation of professionals that work within the built environment.
