GAVIN FIELDING| BRE Academy

What is your role at BRE Academy, and how do you support our learners or clients?

Trainer in Fire related subjects – giving guidance and support where needed, before, during and after our training.

Which areas of training or services do you most commonly support?

Delivery of Training in our Fire Door Inspection & Timber Fire Door Installation, Repair and Maintenance courses.

What do you think makes BRE Academy training different?

We have a background of knowledge built, with over 100 years of experience, brought together by a multitude of expert resources worldwide, that we can then share with our learners.

What advice would you give to organisations or individuals looking to upskill?

Remember Fire Resisting Doors are not just Doors; they are a LIFE SAFETY piece of ENGINEERING and should treated at such through its whole life cycle – Cradle to Grave.

Understand the need for training, and where ‘competence’ sits, it’s potentially Life Saving, not just a ‘tick box exercise’.

Where is your favourite place any why?

Overseas – Greece, the culture, the food, the diversity of life, all in equal measures. Hot in the Summer, but Cold in the winter, with snow in the mountains.

UK – Camping, being in the middle of nowhere, no resorts, no noise, just peace, tranquillity and my own headspace.

What do you love about your role at BRE Academy?

I have a great team I work with, so they act as a big part of this answer, but further afield; Meeting people from all over the British Isles and the Republic of Ireland, engaging with them, sharing knowledge as well as learning from them, they have vast experiences that should be shared and encouraged.
