BRE and University of Hertfordshire partner to deliver Civil Engineering degree
BRE is partnering with the University of Hertfordshire to help it to deliver its BEng/MEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree.
Managed by the BRE Academy, the engineering students come to the BRE site in Watford to make use of BRE’s facilities including the concrete laboratory and Structures laboratory for full-scale testing as part of their course work. The students prepare concrete samples and undertake testing of timber, steel as well as concrete samples and beams.
In addition, BRE experts provide lectures on topics such as BIM (Building Information Modelling), construction management and fire as well as introducing students to key industry tools such as SiteSmart, BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) and CEEQUAL (a tool to facilitate improvements in the sustainability of civil engineering projects).
